The end of the world is humanity’s best chance of survival.

Ex-Ranger Victor Bayham wanted to make a peaceful life for his family, but the news changed that. Planet killer asteroids are headed toward Earth.

As society falls apart, he learns that Space Vision - a leading space R&D company - is working on a solution. He sees hope.

In spite of food riots and the rise of religious zealots, Victor gambles on taking the family on a multi-state trip.

Will Space Vision learn that their plans depend on the Bayham family before it's too late?

I am not a huge fan of realistic science fiction, but this story was intriguing enough, and fast paced enough that I really enjoyed it. Most of the characters are interesting, and the plot has enough going on that it keeps your mind moving right along with it. The setup seems to be there for what could be the start of a very interesting science fiction series. It's on the short side for a fiction novel, but that's par for the course with first time authors. I actually think it is a positive because it keeps the story moving.

You do find some of the same "negatives" that you get with a lot of first time authors. The dialog seems forced at times in order to reinforce the relationship between the characters, or to "info drop" for the world building. I have seen these same issues in the first outings of a lot of my favorite authors. Jim Butcher is one who comes to mind.

The narrator had a good voice, but I think he needed to put a little more attention into reading the "mood" of the scenes at some point. There were several scenes that I expected a somber or grim voice, but what i got was enthusiastic excitement.

I don't think that these minor nitpicks will do anything to take away from the enjoyment of the story, however.

The technical aspects of this book are quite good and I found the topic to be timely. There may come a day when we all face this urgent issue.
