When Nina decides to take a radio-broadcasting class her senior year, she expects it to be a walk in the park. Instead, it's a complete disaster.

The members of Nina's haphazardly formed radio team have approximately nothing in common. And to maximize the awkwardness, her group includes Jamie, a childhood friend she'd hoped to basically avoid for the rest of her life.

The show is a mess, internet rumors threaten to bring the wrath of two fandoms down on their heads, and, to top it all off, Nina's family is on the brink of some major upheaval.

Everything feels like it's spiraling out of control - but maybe control is overrated?

Lucky Caller has all of the things I love about Emma Mills’ writing, but perhaps not to the same extent of my absolute favorites. It’s missing something of the ridiculous that I find so hilarious in her other books. I have had real spit takes from laughing out loud while listening to her other titles (Foolish Hearts and This Adventure Ends in particular), but not with Lucky Caller. Something about the characters made them feel less relatable and engaging… perhaps they weren’t as well developed?

This isn’t my favorite book by Emma Mills, but I still enjoyed listening to it. The narrator did a nice job on differentiating the characters and in especially emotional moments, there was a slight tremor that went well with the text.

Good story, but the VA needs to learn to speak up. Too much mumbling, and I had to adjust the volume often to hear everything. And one of the characters is a child, and the voice she does for her is... Grating. I appreciate wanting to give the characters voices and range, but I'd rather be able to hear it all.

Good story, annoying reader
