Magical Makeover

The first book in the Mystical Midlife in Maine series a well written mystery, suspense, with magic, and a fun story to read. I enjoyed listening to Regan Brown narrate the story.

I have read the other series of Fiona which I really like. This one is slow starting but I like.

The voices for the characters is throwing me off. Aidonius (sorry if that's spelled wrong) why is his voice so slow? It makes him sound dimwitted. And because I read the Fiona series first where he has a quick voice that has an Australian accent it is really weird. But even without the accent the slow speech rate is just really irritating.

The story is just starting and so far not as impressive as the Fiona story series but I'm willing to keep going

So much potential!

After reading the outline of the book, i was quite anxious to start the series! BUT then i heard the narrator. Unfortunately she made it EXTREMELY hard to listen to. Very monotone, boring and unpleasant to hear. Sadly, i won’t be listening to the rest of the series.

Entertaining

This cast of characters was entertaining. Phoebe had no idea what she was getting into when she accepted the private nursing position. She quickly learns her patient is hallucinating. Magical Makeover gave a good even dose of magic, mystery and humor.

Entertaining new series!

Magical Makeover: Paranormal Women's Fiction is book #1 in the Mystical Midlife in Maine series by Brenda Trim. Narrated by Regan Brown.

Hattie Silva is an elderly woman with a cat, Tarja. Hattie needs an in-home nurse. Phoebe‘s husband cheated with a younger woman who had her blackballed in the nursing industry in North Carolina. She and her daughter moved in with her mother and Nana. She’s a private nurse for Hattie. While she doesn’t believe the rumors about the house being haunted or Hattie being a witch, she soon learns that magic is real. This was a really entertaining story. Encountering pixies, a dragon and the son of Hades isn’t your every day experience. She has to protect the house and her family, help innocent people, and survive attempts by the Tainted to take her power. For the narration, overall it was ok. The narration on the default speed felt too slow for me was so I bumped the speed up and the sound was better. I can’t wait to listen to the next book!
