Listed number one in women's fantasy fiction in Kindle.

One day, I’m married, living in Seattle, and magic isn’t real. The next, I’m divorced and living in the guest room of my ex’s hotter-than-sin cousin’s place in Savannah and talking to an animated skeleton named Robert.

I have to admit, Robert isn’t my worst date. At 41, I didn’t think I’d be starting over. But I’ll be damned if my ex thinks I’m down and out because he pulled a fast one on me.

When a job comes my way that offers me a chance to use my childhood training in the shadow world, I take it. I need the money more than I care about my sanity.

It’s dangerous. I have to embrace the magic and dark of my past. And I need Advil to keep me going.

But those who’d hold me back better sit up and take notice because a new woman is in town, and she’s not about to be counted out by anyone. Even if she does groan when she rolls out of bed in the morning.

A paranormal women's fiction with a bit of class and a lot of sass for anyone who feels like age is just a number!

Breena O’Rylee is over 40 homeless and back in her childhood hometown to reinvent herself and she does it with magic. It was a fun book. It was wonderful to find a heroin in her forties who bring the wisdom and baggage that comes with that age to the story. She is a likable character. After dealing with an ass wipe of an ex-husband she is not taking crap from anyone, especially the magic team that thinks that she is too old to be part of the team. It is refreshing to read about a female character that is not your kick ass, blond haired overly sex woman who weighs 125 pounds wet.
There is action and humor in the story and great characters

After 20 yrs of being married to a self absorbed idiot, working to put him through law school and only to have him use magic on Bree O'Rylee to lose everything - dignity and her grans home she left her in her will is the start of this story - Sure it sounds like a "debbie downer" story, but this story is more about how Bree doesn't judge others while pulling herself up by her bootstraps and making 24K gold friends while she's doing it.

Yes Bree is a bit over the top when it comes to passing judgement on herself as middle age, but then again so are the male characters which only frustrates her more. For years Bree has pushed away and been told magic isn't real and denied her natural calling until she was forced to embrace it because she had nothing else.

Lauren Fortgang does a fantastic job bringing all the personalities to life with their own characteristics.
