Voted the world's most beautiful woman, 23-year-old Mira Roskova is admired, envied and desired. With a world-famous footballer for a boyfriend, plus top modelling and endorsement deals, Mira's meteoric rise to fame comes with what her millions of Facebook and Instagram followers imagine to be a perfect life.

But celebrity extracts its pound of flesh. Threatened and harassed online, stalked by besotted fans, beaten up by a man who claims to love her, Mira is assailed on all sides. Home isn't safe, friends can't be trusted, freedoms melt away. Where does the image end and the real person begin?

As the threats multiply, the biggest danger is overlooked. In Broadmoor, Britain's most notorious psychiatric hospital, one man has long been obsessed with this most perfect beauty. His crimes are so awful that a judge ruled they must never be revealed to the public. But his plans to possess Mira are well advanced, and he has the charm and the cunning to make them work.

Read so fast, hard to understand. Volume not adequate for my phone. But GREAT STORY.

Great story bad direction

I love a good thriller and this one was very good with some good twists, although I guessed a few of them. I really liked the character Virgil, the bodyguard, and I hope he appears in another Nick Louth book at some point. However, I agree with other readers that the narrator is terrible. He had an annoying nasal voice that sounded whiny at times and it really got on my nerves. And what's with saying "ax" instead of "ask"? I can understand if that's a local accent thing and some of the characters used it, but it was used even when it was part of the text and not someone speaking.

a good thriller with a bad narrator

Cockney Mumble mouth as Narrator ruins the story. No reasonable phrasing just a relentless stream of slurred words. He can't pronounce "SK"sound... "axe a question", or "excort her to the dance" . I could almost understand most of the words if I set speed to 0.85 . What a shame that a decent story is so completely wrecked by this horrible reader. So obviously bad, the producer should have had the judgement and basic sense to do their job and refuse to produce this irritating listening experience.

Worst Narrator

I really liked this book, but the narrator was rather mumbling at times. At others, he didn’t pause between sentences and paragraphs, making me have to pause to relisten to sections at times.

All-in-all, it was enjoyable. I found the story interesting and gripping. The villain of the story was charismatic, yet frightening.

I will definitely be checking out more Nick Louth books, provided that they aren’t narrated by the same person!

Mirror, Mirror was a good book with a poor narration choice

I wanted to enjoy this story, engage with the characters, etc., but the narration and pacing is so off-putting. Narrator has a rich voice with a very buzzy tone which makes distinguishing words difficult (similar to the difficulty listening to a sibilant voice). The pace is so fast; it reminded me of watching an old black-and-white film on high speed. Insufficient pauses between scenes, too-quick replies, etc. I wonder if it was actually recited this quickly or if it was sped up in post-production.

Hard to enjoy
