When Sidney Marsh’s peaceful Saturday is interrupted by a call from Detective Wallace from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, she finds herself in the middle of a front-page murder case. A prominent businessman has been killed, and the murder was recorded on his phone, which should make for an open-and-shut case. But the more Sid and Detective Wallace learn, the less everything adds up.

After an arrest is made, Sid is convinced Detective Wallace has the wrong man, so she enlists the help of her friend, Kiera, to uncover the truth. Kiera welcomes the distraction from dealing with the return of her long-lost mother and unsettling realizations about the men in her life. Despite Detective Wallace’s objections, Sid and Kiera end up deep in the murder investigation and work together to sort through conflicting evidence and multiple motives to unravel the mystery. Will they be able to serve justice, along with tacos, in the small Georgia town, or will someone get away with murder?

stimulating mystery

Kiera gets a huge surprise from her past!!! Is it good or bad. It has preoccupied her thoughts a great deal. Is this murder a set up???? Syd and Kiera are tenacious in their efforts to get to the bottom of the real truths. I was crushed. You will never believe whodunit!! I'm still reeling! An intriguing compelling story. The narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters and story to life.

The Chef’s Kiss in every way! I LOVED it!

When ultra cranky Detective Wallace had a case where the deceased recorded his own unsavory demise, he reluctantly asks Sid for help. Once Sid gets a taste, she’s bitten by the “we HAVE to SOLVE this” bug … and who better to help her than Kiera! Let the shenanigans begin! I throughly enjoyed “Murder and Pancakes”! The story behind this delightfully tongue in cheek title … oops that would be a spoiler, but no worries, it will be abundantly clear early on, AND it’s a humdinger! As far as humdingers go, that’s far from the only one in this brilliant cozy! Not only is this surprise laden plot beautifully inventive, it’s delightfully original and throughly engrossing! In fact, I was so immersed in the story, that before I knew it, I was hearing the closing words, stunned to realize I had listened straight through! Both the story and the delightfully drawn and defined characters are brought to life by fabulous narration, making listening both easy and pleasurable! The characters are a delightful mix of familiar “regulars” and new faces created especially for this story! I love how the “familiar” characters realistically grow and deepen, thanks to exquisite character development! The new characters are equally well drawn, defined and developed! I would love to see a few of them continuing on, going forward! For me, “Murder and Pancakes” is the “Chef’s Kiss”! I especially loved the shenanigans Sid and Kiera managed to get into, the interactions between ALL the characters and the sparkling wit contained in the dialogue that flowed so smoothly and so naturally! Five fantastic stars, across all categories and I cant wait for more!

Mystery

Murder and Pancakes by Dennis Shock is a wonderful cozy mystery. Jeff Moon did a fantastic job with the narration. The story is cozy, witty, interesting, entertaining, engaging, enjoyable, funny, and more. Murder and Pancakes is the fourth book in Taco Trucks Mysteries series. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. highly recommended

Good story featuring Sidney

In Book 4, Kiera is dealing with the appearance of someone from her past and she and Ray trying to determine if her Witness Protection is compromised. Meanwhile, Kiera’s FBI friend Sidney’s language skills are put to the test when she helps the Sheriff’s office investigation by reviewing a recording of a murder. When a suspect is arrested, Sid doesn’t believe he’s guilty. She goes rogue to figure out who the real killer is. I know this is a fictional story so I’ll suspend belief for the sake of the story. However, it is so unrealistic that there is so much public discussion of an open investigation and Sid’s insubordination and interference in the case made me cringe. The narration was excellent.

Sidney Marsh is called in by the Columbia Sheriff's office to help them with a video. They call her in hoping she can help translate what the person on the video is saying, but besides a keen ear, Sidney also has a keen eye and sees things on the video that others didn't notice in the video of a murder. After talking to him, Sidney and Kiera believe the man who is arrested is innocent and they go about proving it.
Another great book in the series that also included Kiera's long lost mother bringing with her her own drama.
