Unfortunately, abuse happens everywhere and can come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes, it can happen right in front of us, and we still won't see it, or maybe we just choose to ignore it hoping that one day it will go away on its own.

This is my true story about living with a monster - a monster whom only those in my household would have ever had the unfortunate chance to meet. The monster I called my daddy!

We cannot choose who we are related to, but we can sure as hell despise them.

My story is hard to listen to in parts, I am not going to lie, but it was even harder to live it. It has taken 35 years, but I am living proof that just because your life starts out feeling pointless and a punishment doesn't mean you have to accept it. As an adult, you are the only person in control of your life, and only you can make the changes if they are needed.

My life was in his hands for a long time! Now, you have the chance to hold my life in your own.

If my book can help just one person, then I feel that my horrible childhood might have a purpose and not just be a punishment. I will say that I have no regrets. What happened in my life has happened and can never be undone.

It’s hard to imagine what she went through It was an eye opening kind of book and sad to think what she went through with someone who was supposed to keep her safe

The way she handled the abuse

Sarah tells her life story in a chatty, informal manner. It’s easy to relate to her & feel empathy for her horrid, traumatic childhood experiences of neglect & abuse. This story about a girl who had the courage to cope with such an extreme situation will give hope to all of those young individuals who experience domestic violence & sexual abuse.
The narration truly reflected Sarah’s pent up anger & the abusive father’s brute force, making me feel completely immersed in the story.

Story of courage & survival

The story was good enough but the narrator made it more enjoyable with her different characters and voices

Great narrator

I had problems listening to this book mainly because it’s a true story. I find it hard to believe that there are people in our lives that can and will abuse someone this way. After listening to this I feel like I was raised in a sheltered life.
To think that this happened so often that it became the normal way of life for her.
I’m sorry but I hope to never listen to this kind of story again.
I received this free for an honest review from the author or narrator.
