A USA TODAY bestseller.

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes an epic standalone, friends-to-lovers story…with a jaw-dropping twist you won't see coming.

Skylar has been my best friend since childhood, but I secretly pine for her. One thing after another has kept us apart, and I’ve spent the last decade in fear of losing her forever.

Because of me, she left town. For years, I thought I’d never see her again.

But now she’s back…and living with him.

I don’t deserve her after everything I’ve put her through, but I can’t live without her. This is my last chance, because she’s about to make the biggest mistake of her life. I can see it her eyes: she doesn’t love the man she’s set to marry. She still loves me...which is why I have to stop her before it’s too late.

A STANDALONE novel.

Heartbreak well written, as Penelope always does. This book had some moments too close to my own story & sent me into a blubbering mess while trying to put away laundry. Hey at least this one has a happy ending.. the only author that ever makes me cry because she really understands & is able to put those words on paper.

Read if you need a good cry

A love story that spans over decades.

It has young love vibe that goes through so many twists and turns but in the end ends up right where they're supposed to be.

It deals with topics such as cancer and autism in a beautiful way.

The narration was done beautifully and really made you feel what they were feeling.

A beautiful tragic love story with a happy-ever-after.

I don’t know how I’m going to review this book without tearing up, but I’ll try.

My Skylar is book two in Penelope Ward’s Jake series, but it works perfectly as a standalone. From my experience with Penelope Ward’s writing, I knew it would be emotional as hell going in. And I was right. I just didn’t know how I’d be proven right.

Mitch and Skylar’s story is full of trauma and heartbreak. As they face their battles, their flaws and brokenness, whether born from their own messed-up views of life or from external circumstances, often lead them to sabotage their relationship. But by the time you reach the end and look back, you realize you wouldn’t want their journey any other way.

Jacob Morgan and Callie Dalton brought me to tears with their extraordinary performances. Honestly, nothing more needs to be said about the narration. The audio quality speaks for itself and is a testament to their skill.

Penelope, if you’re reading this, please cover my therapy bills 🥲

It’s a slow burn, angsty, friends to lovers story. Highly recommended if those are your favorite tropes.

Penelope Ward never disappoints

Great easy listen. Wonderful character development, missed connections, plot twists, a little bit, not too much, angst. But overall, and easy 5 star Penelope Ward!! Of course, narration was perfection!!

Great story!!!
