Impressively variety and frequently surreal scifi and thriller stories. I really enjoyed not quite knowing what to expect next and how off menu the stories seemed to veer. A story about astronomy, odd parrots, a meth zombie comedy horror, even Elvis anything goes - and it stayed engaging. I don't think that any of the stories was amazing in it's own right but they are rapid fire and curious that the audiobook is well worth delving into and left me with some imagery to ponder. While filled with irony and off elements the stories are told seriously with gravity rather than much for comedy. I am not too familiar with John Farris' work (other than lackluster High Bloods and his hit The Fury) but on the strength of this I'd like to check out more of his stuff. The narration is serviceable delivered reasonably not above or below expectations.
