Multiple award-winning author Sophia James pens scorching hot romances her eager fans devour. In One Unashamed Night, reclusive Lord Taris Wellingham shuns the possibility of intimate relationships. His traveling companion, 28-year-old Beatrice Maude Bassingstoke, on the other hand, doesn’t expect to attract a man as handsome as Taris. But when they are forced to spend the night together during a snowstorm, passion erupts between them as they lay in each other’s arms. And when the night ends, a new day of love dawns before them.

I really enjoyed this story. It wasn't your typical romance with the couple's bickering the whole way through. Both the male and female lead were mature and had background issues they were dealing with that made it interesting. I recommend the book. The narrator did a splendid job. I would gladly listen to her again.

Would you listen to One Unashamed Night again? Why?

Yes! A very pleasing story to the soul.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I'm torn between the two lead characters. Bea was so level headed and calm throughout, that it is was easy to step into her shoes and understand, and feel the emotions in every decision she made. Then there was Taris, to whom made an every day life seem so simple to those around him, yet you also felt the anguish in his every decision to help him get to the next step in life. Two very powerful characters living such afflicted lives - wonderful to follow!

What does Simone Phillips bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator was wonderful. Very pleasing to follow each transition and I felt enveloped within the saga in the first five minutes. With listening to over 300 audiobooks over the last two years....that's a HUGE thing!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did! It was very powerful to me to have the step by step action flow within the story. I could feel the anguish, the happiness, the pain, the sorrow, and most of all, the passion without needing such explicit details that some stories feel necessary to paint their pictures. With this, the painting was made with delicate strokes, embellished to bring the emotions to the forefront of the moment and then receeding back to a broad, all-embracing structure built out to simply carry the charaters on to the next. Fun ride!

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this story if you love historical romance. This is a very passionate story without the smut, but filled with all the necessary butterflies and warmth as needed to make a girl smile!

2 great characters, they were 2 wounded souls who met on a public carriage.
Taris & Bea were a match from the beginning. Both like able, both unsure.
The Narration was beautiful, I could listen to this book over and over again.

What a great story

Every once in a while, I'm in the mood for a romantic story with a carefully crafted narration. Here, the two fit together like a hand in a glove.

There are a few books that fit the bill -- mostly read by Rosalyn Landor. There are others, such as The Proposal by Mary Balogh, and Three Nights of Sin by Anne Mallory. This book is another. It isn't silly or sweet, or overly dramatic. But sexy and deeply soulful. It's a story about adults who fall into love. And it's so refreshing after all the high tension books I tend to read, to just take a pause and breathe. This is a keeper.

Lovely listen
