Bert’s son Jeff listened intently as he read from one of his favorite books. Bert had started reading a chapter a night several weeks ago, and tonight they were on the final chapter. Jeff lay on his side, his head propped up on his hand. Bert had his undivided attention.

Joe sank the pickaxe into the wall and small round gold pieces fell out and onto the floor. Frank yelled, “Hey Joe, wait. There’s gold in the wall. It’s the Applegate Treasure.”

Jeff sat upright in bed with wide-eyed innocence, his curiosity burning. “Dad, were there really two Hardy Boys, and did they really find a treasure in the old Applegate Mansion?”

Bert has been dreaming of finding his own hidden treasure for years, and now he thinks he may just know where he can find it. If he can only convince his wife of his plan, he'll be set for life.
