In April of 2000, Gary Erickson turned down a $120 million offer to buy his thriving company. Today, instead of taking it easy for the rest of his life and enjoying a luxurious retirement, he's working harder than ever. Why would any sane person pass up the financial opportunity of a lifetime?

I could feel the Passion Gary has for Clif bar in this story, its absolutely incredible. It really helps me to see things in a new light for my own company, its been drilled into my head a thousand times, profit is the bottom line, get the profits up up up, grow as fast as you can, get as much capital as you can to grow bigger so you can sell for a good price!. It's reassuring to hear a successful business owner say that's not the case, grow naturally and be healthy, and stay private.

Awesome!

This book has very little detail on how the company started up and spends so much time talking about the attempted buyout. The rest of the chapters are just more repetition of the same story and his ego. Not in a good Elon Musk kinda way either.

Summary: He doesn’t sell the company and splits from his partner. Whole story.

Had high hopes but was disappointed
