This is a classic novel of the Western genre. It is the story of Lassiter, a gunslinging avenger in black, who comes to a remote Utah town just in time to save a young and beautiful rancher named Jane Withersteen from being forced to marry a Mormon elder. Lassiter is also on a mission of his own, leading him to a secret grave on Jane's grounds.

Enormously popular western novel, with a mix of everything from romance to suspense to action - you name it, it's got it! Also endowed with a wonderful sense of old time chivalry: "Where I was raised a woman's word was law. I ain't quite outgrowed that yet."©2017 Audioliterature (P)2017 Audioliterature

Definitely a quintessential western. I loved the story but the narrator spoke a little fast and could have some a better job capturing the characters narrations and personas

Amazing story, wasn’t a fan of the narrator

Zane Grey has always been a favorite. However, the narrator reads in a monotone, with no emotion displayed in the dialogue. All the characters sound the same. She would do well to study under Jim Dale.

Great story, narrator needs work

Beautiful story that blended well with Mary's voice. The characters came alive in my imagination. The sage grass was an awesome image. The canyon echoed the sounds of the cattle and the falling rock.
