In Europe, Bourne's investigation into the Black Legion turns into one of the deadliest and most tangled operations of his double life-the pursuit of the leader of a terrorist group with roots in the darkest days of World War II--all while an assassin as brilliant and damaged as himself is getting closer by the minute . . .
Jason Bourne returns to Georgetown University and the mild world of his alter ego, David Webb, hoping for normalcy. But after so many adrenaline-soaked years of risking his life, Bourne finds himself chafing under the quiet life of a linguistics professor.

Aware of his frustrations, his academic mentor, Professor Specter, asks for help investigating the murder of a former student by a previously unknown Muslim extremist sect. The young man died carrying information about the group's terrorist activities, including an immediate plan to attack the United States.

The organization, the Black Legion, and its lethal plot have also popped up on the radar of Central Intelligence, where new director Veronica Hart is struggling to assert her authority. Sensing an opportunity to take control of CI by showing Hart's incompetence, National Security Agency operatives plan to accomplish what CI never could-hunt down and kill Bourne.

I don't understand why all the people seem to think this was such a horrible book. I thought it was very interesting, face paced and entertaining. I knew when I bought the book that it wasn't Robert Ludlum, so I wasn't expecting the same caliber of book that Ludlum would have written. Taken for what it is, it was a very entertaining book, well written, and engaging.

Not too bad

The storyline was quite clever with many components. The non stop vicious fighting and cruelty was rather uninteresting

Good Plot with lots of Rough Stuff

Last 3 books of Bourne series are excellent and narration is excellent too. I read the reviews for first 3 books but but 100% of listeners have reviewed it very bad.. pity. I was hoping to get the same consistent narrator as the last 3 books. I wonder if Audible will ask the publisher to redo the narration in unabridged with with last 3 books narrator.

Excellent

Some good Bourne situations and ultimately a good finish, but there were too many characters. That made it really confusing who was working with who and not in a good way. The final twist was so slight that it wasn't worth the extra storyline.

Any additional comments?

The good job the narrator does is completely undone by the cheesy sound effects and added ambient “mood” music which is slipped in throughout the book during selected parts. I found this very annoying and distracting. Some of the vocal distortions they add also make it hard to hear, forcing me to rewind a bit. If I wanted sound effects and music I would simply watch a movie!

Get rid of the sound effects and music!
