When a chance accident transports her from her rural hometown of Willingden to the would-be coastal resort of the eponymous title, it exposes Charlotte to the intrigues and dalliances of a seaside town on the make, and the characters whose fortunes depend on its commercial success. The twists and turns of the plot, which takes viewers from the West Indies to the rotting alleys of London, exposes the hidden agendas of each character and sees Charlotte discover herself... and ultimately find love.

I believe Charlotte's friend Susan would have helped in the end. no need for Mrs. C.

Gut Wrenching

Not the kind of ending I like to see... how dreadfully sad. Real life is hard.

A very moving love story!

I loved the narrator, she did a wonderful job! The book was very good, I enjoyed it! But it was not the way I wanted it to end! I watched the movie as well, and loved seeing the characters come to life!

Good narration

The narrator is good. The story is most definitely NOT the Sanditon novel I read years ago and was hoping to find again. It’s still an ok story, but I wouldn’t call it great, and it doesn’t seem very Austen-ish at all.

Jane Austen?

Are we certain this is Jane Austen’s writing? The cleverness, wit, and text typical of Austen were missing. It read more like a gentrified Harlequin than an Austen piece — with a hurried and disappointing finish.
Either it isn’t Austen, or she was too ill to build and polish her story.
