A showrunner and her assistant give the world something to talk about when they accidentally fuel a ridiculous rumor in this debut romance.

Hollywood powerhouse Jo is photographed making her assistant Emma laugh on the red carpet, and just like that, the tabloids declare them a couple. The so-called scandal couldn't come at a worse time—threatening Emma's promotion and Jo's new movie.

As the gossip spreads, it starts to affect all areas of their lives. Paparazzi are following them outside the office, coworkers are treating them differently, and a “source” is feeding information to the media. But their only comment is “no comment”.

With the launch of Jo’s film project fast approaching, the two women begin to spend even more time together, getting along famously. Emma seems to have a sixth sense for knowing what Jo needs. And Jo, known for being aloof and outwardly cold, opens up to Emma in a way neither of them expects. They begin to realize the rumor might not be so off base after all…but is acting on the spark between them worth fanning the gossip flames?

Something to Talk About is a delicious slow-burn with the kind of Hollywood ending that will make you believe in soul mates. Emma and Jo’s story of overcoming obstacles to fight for true love will have you swooning and smiling long after you’ve finished the book.”—Lyssa Kay Adams, author of The Bromance Book Club

“A fresh and fun romance, featuring two witty, intelligent women coming to terms with both their careers and their growing attraction to each other in a glittering Hollywood setting. Meryl Wilsner is a great new voice, whose perspective is both extremely welcome and desperately needed.”—Jen Deluca, author of Well Met

“[A] supremely readable slow-burn romance that had me yelling, ‘JUST KISS ALREADY!’ as I flew through the pages.”—Kerry Winfrey, author of Waiting for Tom Hanks

"Extremely fun, sexy, and romantic. An excellent read."—The Mary Sue

"This is a gem."—Publisher's Weekly (starred review)

"A sparkling debut with vibrant characters, a compelling Hollywood studio setting, and a sweet slow-burn romance."—Kirkus (starred review)

"Fleshed out with important female friendships and a timely look at sexual harassment in the film industry, Wilsner's tale maintains a primary focus on the delightful, developing romance. Completely captivating and so satisfying."—Booklist (starred review)

"This debut is an unputdownable slow-burn romance with well-drawn and incredibly real characters. Wilsner does an amazing job exploring a Hollywood love story in the middle of a #metoo movement."—Library Journal (starred review)

I wish I liked this story more: I absolutely loved the narration and inherently the characters appealed to me, but the immaturity of some of Emma’s thoughts and decisions was starting to grate on me and then made it impossible to get past. I think the juxtaposition between the two characters and their thinking has a lot of potential and I like the slow burn, but sadly that did stop me. I’m going to try and listen again after finishing my next listen.

Couldn’t get past the character flaws

I loved this! The narrators/ VAs do a wonderful job bringing life to the characters. I usually don't go for boss/assistant type romances, but this one does it in the best way possible. It's so sweet and well written and the slowburn makes it all the better. Highly recommend!

Amazingly sweet slowburn

Ok so I read this for a book club.
It’s good, I enjoyed the characters, but it’s very predictable and bland in the story.
You wait 24 freaking chapters for them to get together and you get a blink of a final connection. The anticipation is decent but the climax is boring.
Bland half ass sex scene with barely a description.
Overall I enjoyed the book but was very let down by the lack of really good deep content.

Light reading, lesbian/bisexual main characters

The slowest burn ever! However, there was a lot that happened that really made this story interesting. Hollywood star, Jo takes her assistant Emma down the red carpet, and the media has a field day. We are then taken on a ride on the work relationship they have. We also get suspicious coworkers, great and not-so-great family members, sleazy Hollywood directors - all of whom force Jo and Emma to address the feelings they have developed for each other.

So slow burn, but a good story!

👏👏👏 to Jorjeana Marie and Xe Sands - fantastic job!

I love this book. Read it more than a few times. Wish we would have gotten more than a few kisses but it’s a slow burn for a reason. Only complaint is that the voice actress for Emma makes her sound a lot more juvenile than she is. Her voice for Jo and Avery’s lines sounded normal so it was an intentional choice.
