The portals take....

So I forgot to update my phone. Big deal. Only there’s a glitch and an app opens a portal to another planet! Because that makes sense.

Now I’m stuck on an alien planet with a grumpy prince. His eyes turn black when he’s upset. He can manipulate the shadows and grow a pair of massive, inky wings. I mean, sure, he’s hot, and he saved me from a pack of monsters, but I don’t trust anything about this place, let alone a surly alien.

I’m going to find a way home.

The portals give....

Fate delivered this odd, soft female to me. The royal mark is inked into her skin. She is meant for greatness. Then why did I, the half-blind prince, find her?

Now that I have her, I refuse to let her go. She is my fate, my mate, and my destiny.

This series has multiple authors and each is a standalone other than them sharing the initial event that transports millions of humans into random places in the universe. This story is the kickoff to the series and is great. I love the characters and the planet/kingdom building that was the focus for this standalone. This is why I was a bit disappointed to find out that these aliens are a one and done. I was so hoping for the next story to be about the MMC's brother getting a HEA. I so hope that Nancy Cummings does a spinoff series with these aliens and their journey for peace.

As for the narrator, I thought he was great with Taken for Granite book (highly recommend as yet another great standalone by Nancy), but this time his narration at the start was very stiff and it was hard to tell the brothers apart. By chapter 4 his narration greatly improved and I enjoyed the rest of the story.

I want more of this world

I really enjoyed this first book and I really hope to see more of the series. The epilogue seems to have set it up so onward with Donna’s story. Because sexy farmers are awesome!

Love the snark and the love

the story is sweet and almost a parody of sci-fi romance tropes. it took me some time to get into it bc I, personally, found the narrator's high pitched voice distracting. however, the story eventually won me over. it's very cute and mildly spicy w/a hea.

cute tale

So freaking good! Loved both of the MCs. The relationship felt genuine. The MMC was so sweet. I’m a big fan of grumpy and sunshine and this hit the spot!

Wow
