Having a baby in a bakery gives new meaning to taking the bun out of the oven.

I’d been in Curmudgeon Bakery for one of those lemon baby-Bundt cakes I’d been craving since I found out I was pregnant. The draw had nothing to do with the baker himself. Tall, tatted, and edgy, he looked more like a biker than a man who makes baked goods. I hardly knew him other than taking a tumble in a rainstorm in front of his shop...and then tossing myself at him after he rescued me. We shared a moment, but it’s not what you’d think.

Months later, he delivered my baby among his cookies and cakes. Talk about a second chance encounter. Then he whips up a plan to pretend to be my baby’s father, and everything heats up from there. My body. My heart. My willingness to accept a perfect stranger’s kindness despite him telling me over and over he isn’t who I think he is. I beg to differ. He’s that sugary drizzle on a citrus-flavored guilty pleasure that’s bad for the hips, but together—him, and me, and baby—we’re the perfect blend of ingredients that might do all our hearts some good.

The male narrator was trying to act to much not a good flow. Female did great

To much

The male narrator is overly dramatic and not well-matched to the character. It is distracting to the point that it is hard to listen in places. The storyline itself would have been great with a better narrator.

Poor narrator.

I loved the story line, I did NOT like the male narrator. I almost stopped listening to it because of him. He had the same tone for every situation!

Story line was great

I absolutely loved this story. Sebastian has been through so much, and it was absolutely beautiful seeing his journey and how he went from believing he didn't deserve love and a family to not being willing to give up his girls.

Samantha Brentmoor and Lance Greenfield did a great job with this narration. I loved meeting all the siblings and can't wait to listen to all of their stories.

Quote: “A woman didn’t trip before my bakery. An angel fell from heaven in that rainstorm. I took one look at her, and I knew I’d never be the same. I’d never want to let her go.”

“I’ll pick you every time, Sebastian.”

I love a sweetly awkward meet-cute and this one is a doozie! L.B. Dunbar’s Sterling Heat is a wonderful new series starter. I don’t think I’ve ever read an opening few chapters as funny, surprising, and wholly heartwarming as Sebastian and Enya’s. If you’re in the mood for a cozy meet-cute with a thoughtful, charismatic, grump of a hero and a dazzling, strong, fierce mama bear heroine, grab Sterling Heat now!

Samantha flipping Brentmoor was outstanding in this audiobook! She was perfectly cast as the beguiling, effervescent Enya. Lance Greenfield was wonderful as the gruff, grumpy baker, Bash. I can’t wait to see where this series goes!
