I never thought I'd see the boy who broke my heart again, especially the day after I poured hot coffee over his cocky grin and threw him in the trash.

I wish I'd scalded his actual face. Notorious bachelor Stone Williams shouldn't even qualify as an after-thought. Until he bursts into the childhood home he left behind—where I'm currently staying.

A decade is a long time to be away from someone you once thought you knew better than you knew yourself. I've given up my dreams to stay in our small town as a nurse, while he didn't just surpass his dreams—he exploded them into the atmosphere like fireworks.

Stone makes it clear he hasn't returned to rekindle our relationship and I couldn't agree more. He's here for his mother, a woman I care for, and she doesn't have much time before her illness takes over. When her dying wish is for Stone and me to help her, I can't say no.

But when our grudges turn into explosive lust, we begin losing sight of why we hate each other.

I've rewritten my dreams once to remove Stone Williams. He can't expect me to rewrite them again . . . until an unexpected tragedy forces us to rewrite our reality.

Contains mature themes.

This was a hard story for me to listen to. Not because of the content, but because there were so many times during the story that I had to rewind because I couldn't remember how we had gotten there. His name is Stone, but his real name is William. He had an internship which is why he left his girlfriend, but he's also an actor? I listened to the first 9 chapters twice, and still have so many questions that need to be answered. The male narrator was good.

Stone did not deserve her. The mistakes he made and his disregard of her pain was forgivable and having her return to him and forgive him was cringy.

This story pulled me in from the very first chapter. It’s a heartbreaking yet beautiful second-chance romance that really tugs at the emotions. The heroine’s pain is raw and real—he walked away when she needed him most, and she faced unimaginable loss alone. When fate brings them back together, the tension, the longing, and the question of whether love can heal old wounds kept me listening non-stop.

The writing is heartfelt, the characters are flawed yet redeemable, and the narrator brought every moment of love, regret, and hope to life. It’s not just a romance—it’s about forgiveness, resilience, and whether love is truly strong enough to survive the past.

If you enjoy emotional second-chance stories with real depth, this one is a must-listen.
