Return to the world of Wicked Lovely!

Listen to an all-new Dark Court short story. "Love Hurts" catches up with Irial, Niall, and Leslie - and offers clues about the Wicked Lovely prequel novel, Cold Iron Heart.

Tales of Folk & Fey also includes "Old Habits" and "Stopping Time" (previously published Wicked Lovely Dark Court stories) and two previously published selchie short stories ("Awakened" and "Love Struck").

As a bonus, the collection also includes "Carnival of Lies", a prequel story to the 2012 novel, Carnival of Secrets.

I *love* the Wicked Lovely series so much and couldn’t wait to read more about Irial and Niall, BUT the narrator does such a horrendous job, butchering the names and giving everyone awful voices. Seth sounds like Count Olaf! I suffered through it because I don’t have time to physically sit down and read the book but for the love of God *please* skip this audiobook and read it yourself if you have the time because this narrator just ruins it. I would give my dominant hand for this to be re-recorded.

My God Get a New Narrator

The narrator ruined this with his voices. These are some of my favorite stories, but the narrator, I don’t have words. The other wicked lovely books have decent narrators, how this one came to be I do not know. He pronounces Niall’s name 3 different ways.
Buy the book and read it yourself.

Encountering a narrator who doesn’t work for you isn’t uncommon. It’s typically not regular, but it happens. This guy though. His default voice is fine. Good even. But every single one of his character voices sounds like a cartoon villain. Irial is sex fae turned faerie king turned sex fae yet he sounds like he should be twirling his mustache while waiting for the oncoming train to run over the damsel he’s tied to the tracks.

It’s ridiculous.

Narrator is SO BAD

The stories are good. Fills in some stories between the Wicked Lovely series. Plus additional fantasy tales. I particularly liked the ones about the Selkies. The narration however, is horrible. Particularly his portrayal of Seth. If you listen to the Wicked Lovely series on Audible first then try to listen to this it is very obnoxious to hear the way names are butchered and Seth sounds nasally and obnoxious. The voice style just doesn't fit his character at all. I really wish the narrator had taken the time to read the original series before agreeing to narrate this book. Overall the stories and the writing are good. I just wish I had read them instead of wasting time on the audio book.

Good stories but the narration is TERRIBLE

The narrator is awful. He made all the different male characters sound annoying and sleazy. Don’t buy the audio book just read it yourself.

When the narrator is that bad...
