What made Sherlock Holmes a household name and cultural icon? This very first collection of stories featuring the astute sleuth and his loyal assistant, Dr. Watson. In these twelve ingenious mysteries, Holmes is embroiled in betrayal, abduction, thievery, deception, and murder. Relying on logic, driven by instinct, and employing his uncanny powers of observation, Holmes cracks the cases that elude Scotland Yard. For him, it’s rather elementary.
This Baker Street dozen by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is all the evidence listeners will need to understand why Sherlock Holmes is an enduring legend in detective fiction.
Revised edition: Previously published as The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, this edition of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (AmazonClassics Edition) includes editorial revisions.

- The narration is spot on, being well voiced and presented, allowing the listener to sink into the story.
- The pacing is exceptional. The pauses are appropriate and the story flows smoothly. I was able to accomplish a good many chores and tasks while listening without feeling bored or overwhelmed.
- To story itself, well written, entertaining, and clever without making the reader feel foolish. In some instances the outcome is predictable. That predictability matters little as it is the journey, imagery, and the satisfying resolutions, which draw the mind in.
I grew up on Sherlock Holmes. The books, the radio shows, the movies. Holmes and Watson have long felt like old friends. Letting these stories play while accomplishing other duties makes for a soothing and peaceful time, allowing even unpleasant activities to pass as one would expect in the company of friends.
Like meeting an old friend
