Really a good one!

So this book started off strong as a rom com - more com than rom for the most part. It did really slow down though, and didn’t pick up until about hour 6. I would not classify this as a steamy book, but the romance is cute and well done (it does take a really long time to get to the finished line though, and there is a real absence of sexual tension). You don’t see any of the “paranormal” characteristics until about the last 1-2 hours. I feel like that’s because, while this is definitely Jacob and Matilda’s love story, this book sets up the whole series and a lot of foundational information is given in this book. For that reason this book drags in the middle. That being said, the writing is excellent and so is the dialogue. I never wondered who was speaking or whether it was internal conversation. The narrator is excellent! Different voices for every character were perfect and so well done.

I’m definitely interested in listening to more of this series!

Loved the book, loved the audiobook!

Laugh out loud funny, tears, characters that learn and improve. Lots of foul language and moderate stream. Excellent on all fronts!

Loved this book

This is one of those books that would truly be awesome as a duet or Graphic audio. I was sad the paranormal part almost seemed non existent till I think 70% in. I think the paranormal will grow and be more a part in the next books. But loved the humor and the all around spirit of the book. I see reviews elsewhere (gr) that say hard to follow characters. I like to have the book And the audio I think that helped greatly. There are a lot of brothers to keep up with lol my only complaint would be the MFC is understandably insecure but at the last part of the book it's obnoxious and thank goodness Jacob is awesome. I did get sad about the very end info. Which I won't say because spoilers. But I truly enjoyed this book. It would be awesome as a duet.

interesting story

fun read with some tiny paranormal elements. I'm assuming that those will pick up more within the next books or so I'm hoping. This book had me in tears at least once and laughing the rest thru. Off to the next book. Oh and the narrator did an excellent job.

Entertaining...mostly

There were slow spots in the story for sure. Mostly the characters are good...the story line is pretty good...certainly a fantasy. The only real complaint I have is that the main character, Mathilda, started out strong then turned into a complete moron who jumps to every conclusion possible & never has a rational thought, never thinks things through at all in the last 2 hours of the book. It's hard to watch a strong, logical character dissolve into an idiot. I really dislike really stupid characters & I expected more from this one given how strong & smart this one was in the bigger part of the book. I don't know if I'll listen to book 2. The narrator of this one is better than average.
