“The Creative Dealmaker” isn’t a technical business book. It’s a fable. A story about a buyer and seller who meet and transact on a business acquisition. It’s a gritty tale of a motivated buyer and seller who embark on their first ever business acquisition and exit. You will meet Jacqueline, a retiring 60-year old owner of a successful PR agency she founded over 20-years ago. She’s tired, burned out and looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren. You will also meet Terence, a 40-year old executive in one of the USA’s largest PR agencies. He knows the industry and after a 20-year career in corporate America, yearns to own his own business. Rather than start a business from scratch (and struggle), he wants to acquire an existing, successful, cash flowing business that already has customers, employees, premises, cash flow and a solid reputation (and succeed). Both Jacqueline and Terence have never bought or sold a business before so the book captures not only the process involved of transferring business ownership but also the drama, emotions and psychology that both buyers and sellers always go through, especially on that first deal.

Great book / story overall - useful and interesting.. but what happened to narration? :) i know Carl can talk really well with great tonality but.. for.. some.. reason.. there are.. constant.. pauses… after.. each.. word.. or phrase.. Carl - i hope you were not driving while narrating this as in some videos :))

Great ETA fable, smth off with narration

I enjoyed the novel format, however the AI voice was not nice, " Ai Carl needs to brush up on fluency. But thank you for a superb book.

Great story and refreshing change from the stereo-typical business book. So much so I returned the book I attempted to listen to after this one because it was too boring! :o)

The story is motivating and empowering, simplifying complex strategies to showcase for the everyday reader just what is possible in the acquisition space. And, while Carl does refer to his mentoring programs multiple times throughout the book, as another reviewer commented, I found the mentions to be tactfully woven in and not positioned in a pompous or arrogant way, unlike they would have been had someone else written it. (And no, I'm not in his inner circle, although he was one of my first mentors years ago.)

As always, Carl's ability to "dumb it down" allows the reader to see just how straight-forward the overall process can be when viewed from a 30,000 foot level, leaving the reader feeling like they have a solid understanding of the general process for both buying and scaling a business, as well as the ability to achieve their own business-buying success.

Great story... refreshing change-up from...

I usually like books where the author also narrates the audiobook, but not in this case. I’ve also seen Carl in videos and it was fine, but for some reason the way it’s read has lots of halts and pauses, which is distracting.

Story itself is great. Learned a lot and actually connected with the characters. I bought it on Kindle as well and found myself mostly reading instead of listening.

Great story. Narration isn’t great.
