The gripping thriller from the Top Ten Sunday Times bestselling author, shortlisted for the Irish Crime Book Awards

Rumours…

Everyone’s heard the rumours about elite gentlemen’s clubs, where the champagne flows freely, the parties are outrageous…and what goes on behind closed doors is darker than you could possibly imagine.

Scandals…

Paige Hargreaves was a young journalist working on a story about a club for the most privileged men in London. She was on the brink of exposing a shocking scandal. Then she disappeared.

Secrets…

DS Maeve Kerrigan must immerse herself in the club’s world of wealth, luxury and ruthless behaviour to find out what happened. But Maeve is keeping secrets of her own. Will she uncover the truth? Or will time run out for Maeve first?

Good uncomplicated story and relationships. Easy to listen to narration. This series has made many miles on the highway entertaining. I recommended starting from book 1 but not a requirement.

I love this series

Jane Casey again, does a phenomenal job. Generally I listen when I am exercising. I could not quit listening to this book. Maeve is a great character and Casey has developed her as well as all supporting characters.

Doesn’t disappoint

The story was good. I love this series. And I may be biased because I’m a huge fan of Sara Coomes but this new narrator lacked the emotion and character the audiobooks usually possess. She did a good job was easy to understand but there were parts that should have been a bit more emotional that she seemed almost like she was reading something handwritten and she almost couldn’t make out the words so was speaking extra carefully and a bit slowly. Otherwise it was another win for Jane Casey

Story was good narrator was ok

I was like most listeners that are leaving reviews very disappointed that they changed the narrator after so long. But I just love the storyline so I kept listening and this is probably the best book in the series, so don’t let it deter you from listening. The new narrator did an amazing job. You’ll get used to her. Just wish there was the next book out already.

Keep listening even though it’s a different narrator

This is one of my favorite series.

Body parts are discovered by a Thames mudlarker and Maeve and her team have their work cut out for them.

We see more of Maeve’s personal life with her boyfriend whom Josh isn’t fond of. No surprise! Josh’s past comes back to confront him. And I don’t like Georgia.

The last few chapters were tense as Maeve finds herself the victim rather than the investigator.

Excellent narration and I’m already waiting for the next book.

Another winner for Jane Casey
