After journeying to an unfamiliar land where air is nearly unbreathable and light stings like shards of glass, Edgar must navigate the deadly forests--full of creatures far more frightening than anything he has seen on Atherton--and join the child workforce of Silo #7, the site where Dr. Harding (the mad maker of Atherton) was raised.

In the final thrilling chapter of this epic triology, we meet an engaging new cast of characters and Dr. Harding's ultimate plan comes together in an incredibly satisfying conclusion.

Editorial reviews

The great thinker Hannah Arendt said the most frightening moment of the 20th century was when men began dreaming of living on the moon, for it meant that they were giving up on Earth. Such is the imagined future scenario in Patrick Carman’s Atherton speculative fiction series. The Dark Planet is the third and final installment in the series and is here performed slyly and with occasionally flights into big characterizations by Jonathan Davis.

In The Dark Planet, Edgar and Samuel, two young friends from an artificial planet, must journey to a future Earth, which is all toxic oceans, mutant monsters, and terrible warlords. Intelligence and wit is on full display. As allegory or swashbuckling adventure, The Dark Planet is quite a ride.
