In the misted hills above Bergen, Norway, Jane Ashcroft, R, and their loyal dog, Fable, have finally found what feels like freedom. Their villa overlooks the harbor and the colorful roofs of the old city below. Morning walks lead them through cobbled streets and up the forested slopes of Mount Fløyen, where the air is sharp and clean, and no one asks questions.

It’s a life built on quiet rhythms and careful routines—simple, safe, and earned after too many years of running. For a while, the world leaves them alone.

But peace can be an illusion. When dark forces begin to close in, Jane realizes that someone has pierced their anonymity. She doesn’t know how they found her—or what they want—but everything she and R have rebuilt is suddenly at risk: their money, their safety, their freedom.

And as the circle tightens once more, Jane understands what she’s been running from all along—that every escape has a price, and some debts can only be settled in the reckoning to come.

As always Linda Jones did a wonderful, marvelous job with narration and production. I never thought that I would be rooting for a thief and a hacker as much as I did throughout this series.

This last book brought all of the characters together that we met in the other books and gave us a hopeful ending. There is action in this book, but it is more of a psychological thriller, and the descriptions that the author has of the areas that they go to are very poetic and helped me too experience the scenery through words .

Recommended.
