Delightful

This is a steamy historical romance that delivered everything I crave from this genre —an independent heroine fighting for her future, a brooding yet honorable duke with secrets, and a marriage of convenience that turns into something far more complex and passionate.
Annabel Ridley is a determined young woman unwilling to settle for an unfaithful betrothed, despite societal expectations. Her desperation leads her to the Duke of Halmesbury, a man with his own regrets and a desire to find a second chance at happiness. Their arrangement seems mutually beneficial, but Philip’s hidden past threatens to unravel everything just as their feelings begin to deepen.
The chemistry between Annabel and Philip is electric, with plenty of tension, slow-burning desire, and emotional depth. The novel masterfully balances the excitement of their growing relationship with the intrigue surrounding Philip’s secret, keeping me engaged until the very end. The writing is rich in historical detail, making the world feel immersive and the stakes all the more real.
I am a big fan of marriage-of-convenience tropes, strong-willed heroines, and dashing yet damaged dukes, which made this book impossible to put down. A captivating, passionate read that proves love is always worth the risk! I listened to the audiobook, and Claire Glover was delightful. She did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life. I am looking forward to the next book.

This is a fast-paced, steamy romance full of humor, emotion, secrets, misunderstandings, and some surprise reconciliations. This brought to life by the talented performance by Claire Glover. Now what is going on with Mrs. Harris and Clinton? You’ll love it!

Taking control of the situation…

A solid regency romance with a strong female lead character.

This was my first book by author Nina Jarrett. I enjoyed the storyline and especially loved how strong the main character was. She definitely took control of her own destiny.

Claire Glover did an excellent job with the narration. I enjoyed her performance very much.

I really enjoyed the story and the narrator did a wonderful job representing each of the characters.

Adventurous / Gutsy Bride

This is the first book I have read by this author. I truly enjoyed both the storyline and the narrator's performance. I loved Annabelle's gutsy and adventurous character traits which assists in moving the storyline quickly. The book has intriguing characters, side stories, a fine ending and love scenes steamy and sprinkled throughout the book. All the characteristics needed for an enjoyable romance novel.
