Mr. & Mrs. Smith meets political thriller in this heart-pounding series debut about two undercover flames whose new mission risks exposing their true identities to the world…and, worse, each other.

Caspian Anderson is a translator for the United Nations—or so he’s led everyone to believe. No one suspects that mild-mannered Caspian, with his baggy clothes and sensible car, is actually an elite assassin for the US government. And that’s just how he wants it.

For ten years, Caspian has worked under the code name Elias for Onyx, a black program deep within the Department of Homeland Security. His latest mission takes him to Switzerland to kill a target tied to a human trafficking ring. There, Caspian stumbles onto a web of conspiracies involving high-level political figures.

Meanwhile, Caspian’s girlfriend is starting to pull away, and he wonders whether she may have secrets of her own. The truth is, Liesel Bergmann’s a spy. But neither knows the truth about the other…yet. As their covert operations converge, trust becomes paramount. Can they work together to bring down the enemy with their lives—and hearts—still intact?

I don’t read spy stories often, but this was pretty solid. I’ll be honest…I got a bit lost in some of the side plots but the main story and characters carried it through to the end. Not a bad read.

A bit confusing at first

Simon is a wonderful writer. I have enjoyed his work for a long time now. This entry into a new series breathes new life into the thriller genre! The plot twists are refreshing and not predictable, as so many of our favorites in the genre have become after the last two decades. Caspian is young, energetic, lethally talented, and with this entry he promises to be around for years to come. Simon, I anxiously await July 8th...

I'm guilty of loving Jason Bourne, but I Jack Reacher and all their clone type novels. It just never get old for me. But some are just so poorly done, where there's hardly any story and a guy with a gun just kills all the bad guys... Great! This book had some of the best characters.... I loved Edgar's story just as much I Did Caspien's. All characters stood out and were unique. It could have used a little more of Amy... She made me laugh so much, wish she was in the next book. Amy was a character worth keeping. And this book is narrated beautifully!! I'm already onto the 2nd book.

It really stands out!

The narrator was very good and kept my interest going. However, the twists and turns with all of the alternate spy names for the characters really taxed me. I had to go to the Kindle version of the book to gain a full comprehension of the storyline.
