Jeremy Boon is an autistic pest control expert. His father, Dr. Andrew Boon, disappeared 10 years ago after being part of a top-secret military think tank that was developing mutant insects to be used as drones.

When Jeremy gets the biggest fumigation job of his career, he must use his expertise to protect Elaine, the girl that he's loved since he was a child, and her son Keith, from the gun-toting mutant insects that his own father had a hand in creating.

The Exoskeleton Chronicles book is very funny but at times sort of frightening because it makes you wonder what goes on in labs behind closed doors. The story gets truly interesting when Thorton (mutant cockroach) begins to tell of his life and his greatest love that's when you will really get to the heart of the tale. I absolutely loved how the author describes how the insects daily lives were before being captured. I would highly recommend this book unless you are squeamish about bugs. This is my honest unbiased review of which I give freely of my own volition.

Giant mutated insects appear and start threatening humanity. They are able to carve their own weapons from tractor blades when they fly to a farm in Nebraska and then they raid weapons stores of the US Army, stealing machine guns and killing soldiers in the process. Then they take attendees of an international conference hostage with their demands.

Jeremy, a self employed pest controller, stands in the way of these oversized bugs ending humanity once and for all.

I thought the last chapter went on a bit too long but this is a funny, enjoyable, action packed story. I thought the narration was brilliant, the tone of Banks's voice matched the story perfectly.
