Library Journal called Robert Rotenberg's Old City Hall "a roller coaster of a legal thriller that's got it all". Its gripping sequel, The Guilty Plea, finds Toronto detective Ari Greene investigating the murder of an heir to a Canadian food conglomerate. Although the victim's ex-wife swears to her lawyers that she's innocent, evidence to the contrary quickly mounts.

Kept having to remind myself that this is written from a Canadian standpoint. Canadian/British law angle. Much more low-key/formal than the U.S. As the American character kept saying “there just so nice”.
Taking that into account; not a bad book. Yet the story and plausibility are bit lacking.

Low energy Canada

I wish it were narrated with an Ontario accent instead of Midwest U.S. But that's just me.

Good story, well presented

I love courtroom drama being a lawyer. This was terrible. I can't believe I spent hours of my time listening to a novel without any drama. It just plodded along without tension. I disliked every character. Do not bother with this one. It needs another edit.

Not worth your time.
