After my difficult divorce, I thought my life was over. But now, I’m happier and more successful than I could’ve ever imagined. My cosmetics business is thriving and I’m almost ready to get back out there and find Mr. Right. Almost.

When I hear that a therapy ranch on the Bayou is seeking an investor, I jump at the opportunity. I know only too well that spending time with animals is healing.

When I visit the owners to ask for details, I find out I’m not the only one interested. Zachary LeBlanc is also there to make an offer. Why is that a problem? His family ruined my family’s reputation. He immediately tries to discredit me in front of the owners. Needless to say, I’m ready to give Zachary LeBlanc a piece of my mind.

Days later, I spot Zachary in the French Quarter, at the edge of the Mississippi River. As I hurry over to give it to him good, the unthinkable happens and I fall into the river! I’m certain I’ll drown, but he somehow pulls me out. That’s when I see an entirely new side to this man — though maybe I’m still in shock from the trauma. Zachary is kind and patient, but before long, we’re back to arguing again.
And that’s when he kisses me! After he pulls back, I wonder if his intention was to shut me up, or if he’s truly attracted to me.

One thing I know for sure; I've met my match in Zachary Leblanc. Because I'm not going down without a fight, and neither is he.

There are so many reasons why we can’t be together. So why am I ignoring all of them?

Mispronounced words get better as we go through the series

The series/story is pretty good but do more research before recording!!! I love books set in Louisiana. But please... LeBlanc has a silent c. Book 1: Marigny is pronounced MARE-ih-nee. The Sazerac is a drink made with Absinthe and that stuff is nasty. Why not pick something more popular and tasty? Walt Disney World only really has 1 castle-yes I'm a Disney fan. Book 2: Burgundy Street is pronounced Burr-GUN-dee. Book 3- Pralines are not baked!!! Geez. These little things are just a bit annoying but I'm committed to and still like the series. I'm not a fan of the spicy scenes. Meh- just my opinion/preference. Lol. The rest of the books are pretty much the same and I stayed interested in the characters. Still stuck on the same foods. Pronunciation starts to get better by book 5 and 6. They even eventually learned how to pronounce Marigny.

Great read

Finally, a fmc that isn’t a total doormat! After reading a few books with extremely frustrating fmc characters, this was a breathe of fresh air! Thanks for the great read.
The narrators did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life!

Great story!

Right out of the starting gate, my heart hurt for the heroine of this story. I did feel like there was more to her horrible ex than what was revealed, but I LOVED the way she stood up to him. And Zachary let her without interruption. Layla Hagen keeps me on my toes in all of her books.

Just the right amount of everything

Loved it, loved that the main characters were right minded. Not complicated, good communication just perfect.

Loved this one! Cute and sweet but also spicy! Layla Hagen is great with this type of book! I love the writing and the characters, and the dialog is always very believable. You always feel like you’re right there in the story. This one takes place in NOLA and it’s always a good time there with those folks, and this story is no exception. The narrators are outstanding as always and really add to the overall enjoyment of the story. This is just a really great series!
