Kate and Pete have been the perfect couple ever since they were teenagers. Fifteen years later, they have two young daughters, live in a beautiful London townhouse, and seem like they have it all. But one day, Pete leaves for work and never comes home.

In a note Kate discovers, he confesses that he’s been unhappy for a long time and that he’s met someone else. Distraught, she later learns that he has left everything behind, including his mobile phone, and she sets out to learn the truth about his disappearance.

But is she prepared for what she will learn?

Kept me entertained from start to finish. I listened to this on a road trip. The narrators are excellent!

Captivating

No spoilers:
Firstly, I feel pretty safe in saying that almost every reader will know what happened early on, but the details and journey getting there was worth it for me.

The 15+ years marriage, 40+ years old, children, loss of identity, etc, are all highly relatable... almost painfully so. It was eye opening in that way. However, I wouldn’t say that this was particularly “thrilling” or even unique. But it did hold my attention and kept me going back for more until it was over.

Intense, slow burn 🔥

Don’t miss this listen! This is such a great story & you won’t believe the ending! Don’t miss it!

Great Story

The author was able to present several possible options as to what happened and to who and why. Finally when the pieces start to slot together it’s fairly obvious who really is behind the disappearance/ possible murder. There is some good banter, outrageous indignation about unfair justice and a pretty cheesy ending. But this book isn’t about solving the world’s crisis’ it’s about marriage, trust, loyalty and failed expectations. Easy reading/listening to add to your tbr.

Narration was good trying to capture the various genders and accents!

Different than most missing husband stories

Slow heating ember of a story. Just a slight disappointment with the ending. I was waiting for one more satisfying twist. Still good overall.
