The pirate prince Lazar di Fiori returns with lethal grace to avenge what was stolen from him: his kingdom, his birthright, and his soul. Allegra Monteverdi, the daughter of Lazar's sworn enemy, proves an uncommonly powerful adversary. She throws herself on his mercy, her courage and beauty touching his cold, unforgiving heart. He agrees to spare the lives of her family - but only if Allegra sails away with him as his captive. For his quest for vengeance still burns fiercely, and he will settle for nothing less than Allegra's body and soul. Alone at sea with this dark, intriguing man, moving between seduction and fear, Allegra gazes into eyes as deep and mysterious as the night and sees who this pirate really is. Lazar - the prince of her childhood dreams. But it will take more than her love for this pirate prince to bring peace to her beloved home. For Lazar must face the demons of his shattered past if he is to forge the destiny that is theirs to claim.

Not sure why Audible released this trilogy out of order - doesn't make sense. They released in the order of 3, 1, 2. ("The Pirate Prince" is book one, "Princess" is book two, and "Prince Charming" is book three). I've previously listened to book 3 and enjoyed it.

This is the story of Allegra and Lazar. Lazar is the handsome former Prince of Ascension who is consumed with vengeance after a life filled with grief, murder, deception, and torture. He meets the current Governor of Ascension's daughter, Allegra, who is a compassionate, curious and innocent young lady. Both of these characters are flawed and have insecurities but they grow and overcome many hardships together. Their journey is a roller-coaster romance filled with kidnapping, revenge, adventure, and pirates. It's a good 3.75 star beginning to this trilogy.

Elizabeth Wiley does a great job narrating. She made each voice unique which added to the enjoyment of this book ;-)

Too graphic in internet details.

The narrator should have been a male or at the very least a male and female. The "italian" accent sounds like a bad vampire movie.

Love the story

I really like Foley's writing. She weaves a tale with characters one can get involved in and the stories have a fair mix of intrigue, drama, humor and steamy scenes. I especially enjoy how she gives you both the hero and heroines view. In this case her writing was strongly complimented by Wiley's narration. I do not believe the story would have been quite as good if it hadn't been performed so brilliantly. Wiley is one of the few narrators who can do both men and women's voices with perfection and her Italian accents were wonderful, hence the reason she got a higher rating than the actual story. I will look for more stories narrated by her, but I doubt any could be as endearing as the story of this group of Italians!!

Foley and Wiley make a great team

The Pirate Prince is definitely worth your credit or cash if you like historical romance. Unlike a certain truly horrible and worthless book (hint: the title starts with "50" and ends with a color), this book is sensual and erotic yet romantic, classy, educational, and well written. I've listened to two of Gaelen Foley's books so far and each serves as a superior example of both the historical romance and erotic literature genres. Now I am looking forward to listening and reading my way through all of Foley's historical romance books.

Erotic but Romantic, Classy, and Well Written
