I've heard the rumors about the football players in our small town. Trouble always has a way of finding them, and girls can't get enough of their wild ways.

Hayes Carver has the bad-boy reputation down to go with his scoring records and good looks.

Everything changed after the game that destroyed his image and painted him as a dirty player. From the press and social media to his coach and teammates, the pressure is building, and he can't seem to escape the constant scrutiny.

When his limits are tested, Hayes turns to me for a way out. He proposes that I play along as his fake girlfriend in hopes it changes the narrative and takes the pressure off him.

The rules are set in stone. Faking a relationship with him won't be easy, and falling for him is out of the question. Yet the more time we spend together, the more the lines between what's real and fake begin to blur.

Hayes needs me to help save his reputation, but to do it, I'll have to risk my heart.

USA Today bestselling author Brooke O'Brien returns to Braysen University in this fake dating, opposites attract standalone romance. The Plays We Fake features fake dating, sports/football, opposites attract, a cinnamon roll hero with a bad reputation, and a virgin spicy romance reader/aspiring author heroine.

I am in awe of Hayes and Everly. With his cocky yet vulnerable attitude and her sass, I was drawn to them both. Their chemistry was so intense that they flawlessly went from fake to true love. The struggles she helps him through just by being who she is and the way he pulls her from her comfort zone and is there for her through her own was a beautiful and envious storyline and I did not want it to end.

In love with everything about this.

A great second (although I would actually call this the third given that Ava And Coulter's story (the prequel novella) is woven into the books that follow) in this series. Like the first, the female character is strong and grounds the alpha football player who is secretly falling apart because of the negative publicity around a football player gone wrong. Everly is truly his sunshine.

Solid dual narration in the audiobook.

Stefanie and Lee are superb at bringing these two MCs to life! I loved the way their voices, nuance, and various tones so distinctly created the various characters in the story.y only teeny critique is probably even more a personal preference - I wish Stefanie & Lee each did ALL of their main characters' respective lines. It was the tiniest bit distracting to hear Lee voicing Evy during his chapters and vice versa.

I'm able beyond excited for Book 3 - we get a *strong* hint of who those two lovebirds are going to be!!

This book was every collegiate daydream come true! 🫠
