It wasn't even because he never told anybody why he left Dallas. It was because Charles had no nickname in an area where nicknames were as common as sagebrush. Still, Crawford County took Charles at face value as a good man until he proved otherwise. When Billy Joe Williams was murdered on a lonely county road, Charles knew that someone else counted on being taken at face value.

This is the first book in this series. This is about sheriff Charles Matthews he's the sheriff in a small town. There's been some murders in this quiet town. All the characters is what makes this book so good. There is a good mystery and the right amount of humor. I didn't know who the killer was till the end. This is my first book from D. R. Meredith. He is an excellent mystery writer. Ben McLean does a great job narrating this book. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.

This was interesting but hard to listen to long.

i would listen to a chapter or two and switch to another book for awhile before coming back for a chapter or two. The male voices were hard to believe and inconsistent. The extra side trails were sometimes repetitive and predictable.
