The eighth audiobook in Winston Graham's classic Poldark saga, now a major TV series from Masterpiece PBS.

Cornwall, 1810

The Poldark family awaits the return of Ross from his mission to Wellington's army in Portugal. But their ordered existence ends with Jeremy Poldark's dramatic rescue of a stranger from the sea.

Stephen Carrington's arrival in the Poldark household changes all their lives. For Ross and Delmelza's children Clowance and Jeremy in particular, Stephen's advent is the key to a new world - one of both love and danger.

In his Poldark series, author Winston Graham explores the complications of love lost and the class struggle of early 19th-century England with a light, comic touch. The Stranger from the Sea is followed by the ninth audiobook in the Poldark series, The Miller's Dance.

This book leaves lots of loose ends. I wish he had wrapped up a few more story lines.

No ending

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

The love that Ross and Demelza shared and how they matured together. It was so interesting how they brought up their children and seeing how they each developed. I loved the story!

Love and Family

Given the title, the ending was puzzling, out of sorts and unsatisfying. Otherwise, I much enjoyed this historical novel.

Abrupt, puzzling and unsatisfying ending to an absorbing novel.

And the end does not wrap up the titular concerns. Some romantic tension, but overall disappointing in that many tales began but only set upon a positive/ smooth path. No denouement.

Nothing dramatic happens

Winston Graham did a fabulous job with this series! I feel like I’m there!

Oliver Hembrough does a wonderful job with narration!

Another masterpiece!
