I love this series! The male narrator isn’t good though

I have found myself looking forward to the release of these books! The storyline is so captivating to me. I love the idea of a grown and sexy black Hogwarts. The only knock I have in this audiobook is the male narrator. His tone is always incorrect for the message that he’s delivering, and the perspective that he’s delivering it from. He doesn’t pronounce words correctly, he has random pauses in places that there shouldn’t be breaks in the sentence. I found myself having to go back and relisten into his parts. I do love the female narrator though. She seems to do men and women’s voice is just fine, so maybe just haven’t her do it.

Favorite series

Loveeee this book and this series! I can’t wait until the next book. I’m going to be sad when it comes to an end. It’s Black and magic and HBCU and the lingo used is so realistic. It’s really perfect to me!

Great series

Love this story! The juxtaposition of black experiences like HBCUs, cultural rituals and traditions, coupled with fantastical beings like vampires and werewolves makes for an interesting and captivating story.

Now, my biggest critique? The narrators. As some who listens to audiobooks the majority of my day, the lack of fluidity in reading was a bit cringey, but speeding it up helped some. Overall, enjoyable. Can’t wait for more.
