The book features excerpts from internationally well-known authors such as Peter Edwards, Tony Thompson, Edward Winterhalder and Iain Parke, but also contains literary work from those who are relatively unknown and those who have only achieved recognition on a local scale. Covering both factual accounts of life inside clubs such as the Hells Angels, Satan’s Choice, Bandidos, Rock Machine, and the Outlaws, as well as leading examples of biker based fiction that explore the images of bikers and crucial themes such as loyalty, respect and honor, this compilation is intended to introduce the reader to the secretive world of motorcycle clubs and outlaw bikers.
Edward Winterhalder is an American television producer who has created programs about motorcycle clubs and the outlaw biker lifestyle for networks and broadcasters worldwide; an author who has written fifteen books about motorcycle clubs and outlaw biker culture that are published in the Dutch, English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish languages; a singer, songwriter, musician and record producer; screenwriter; and former outlaw biker.
Winterhalder has produced documentaries, episodes and segments for television shows such as "Living On The Edge", "Gangland", "Outlaw Bikers", "Gang World", "Iron Horses", "Marked", "Biker Chicz", "One Percenters" and "Recon Commando: Vietnam"; and is the creator and executive producer of the "Quebec Biker War", "Steel Horse Cowboys", "Real American Bikers" and "Biker Chicz" TV series.
A prominent member of the Bandidos motorcycle club from 1997 to 2003 and associate from 1979 to 1996, he was instrumental is expanding the organization worldwide and was assigned to coordinate the assimilation of the Rock Machine into the Bandidos during the Quebec Biker War—a conflict that cost more than one-hundred and sixty people their lives.
Associated with motorcycle clubs and outlaw bikers for almost thirty years, Winterhalder has been seen on Fox News (O'Reilly Factor with Bill O'Reilly & America's Newsroom), CNN, Bravo, Al Jazeera, BBC, ABC Nightline, MSNBC News Nation, Good Morning America, History Channel, Global, National Geographic, History Television, AB Groupe, and CBC.
Iain Parke imports industrial quantities of Class A drugs, kills people and lies (a lot) for a living, being a British based crime fiction writer. He became obsessed with motorcycles at an early age, taking a six hundred mile cross-country tour to Cornwall as soon as he bought a moped at the tender age of sixteen. After working at a London dispatch job delivering parcels on a motorcycle, he built his first chopper in his bedroom at university, undeterred by the fact that the workshop was upstairs.
Armed with a MBA degree, Iain first worked in insolvency and business restructuring in the UK and Africa, where he began work on his first thriller The Liquidator. The success of that novel propelled him to write a biker lit trilogy about the Brethren Motorcycle Club, which has recently been optioned as a series for television in the UK. Today Iain lives off the grid, high up on the North Pennines in Northumberland with his wife, dogs, and a garage full of motorcycle restoration projects. He is currently working on a number of book projects, including another biker-based trilogy.
