What do you do when your whole life is turned upside down?

Sully Raines sets out to find his birth mother, and ends up in Blessings, Georgia. A new surprise awaits him here, but of the best kind - his childhood sweetheart, whom he hasn't seen since she moved away when they were teens, is living in Blessings now. He's not sure she's as happy to see him as he is to see her, but it's been a lot of years, and a lot of water under the bridge....

Sully's heartfelt search for answers about his past might just turn out to be the key to his future.

Review of audiobook originally borrowed through my library’s Hoopla app. I liked the series so much I bought the audiobooks during Audible’s site wide sale.
Possible Spoilers:
John Sullivan Raines has recently retired from the Kansas City Fire Department when his mother dies and Sully finds out he was adopted. His search for her leads him to Blessings, Georgia. Sully’s first day there has him saving a woman from a terrible car wreck, only to find out Melissa Dean is the Missy who was his 13 yr old first love. When Sully’s search for his mother stalls, he talks to Elliott Graham who cryptically tells him to stay in Blessings. Elliott later gives him a moving painting of mother and baby Johnny. She happens to be wearing the necklace and cross his birth mother left behind which Sully didn’t show him.
We get several chapters when Hoover Slade escapes from prison to avoid being shanked. Of course he manages to overwhelm Melissa and kidnap her, which injures her again.
Now add in National Geographic videographer Mark Adamos who is finishing up his last assignment before retiring when he overhears a family conversation about girls who got pregnant during school and has the realization that his Janie was one of them and her baby was his. He manages to track down the name of the adoptive parents and his son’s name but has to complete his commitment before putting all his energy into tracking down Johnny and maybe Janie. He has a photo of a dozier bringing an injured woman to the hospital in Blessings during the hurricane that he’s going to follow up on. Small world, karma, whatever you call it, life brings him to Lovey, who brings him to Johnny/Sully.
In the middle of this, we get a mysterious redheaded backpacker renting a furnished home from Dan Amos, which we believe to be the set up for the next book.
Rubinate does an ok job of narration.
