A beautiful gift edition of the beloved classic about three orphan siblings and their love of music, theater, and dance.

When orphans Sorrel, Mark, and Holly are sent to live with their grandmother, a famous English actress, she enrolls them in the Children's Academy of Dancing and Stage Training, the same Academy that made the orphans from Ballet Shoes famous so long ago. It's the chance of a lifetime, but the Academy won't give the children the "proper" education their parents would have wanted. However, the children learn to love the Academy when they find out that Sorrel has dramatic flair, Mark can sing, and Holly charms everyone with her adorable impish ways. Maybe talent does run in the family.

This classic children's book is perfect for kids who dream of being on stage--dancing, singing, or acting. Don't miss the other classic Noel Streatfeild books, Ballet Shoes, Skating Shoes, and Dancing Shoes!

Although the reading is good in general, the substitution of some words is distracting. For example, why substitute "briefcase" for "attache case"? They are not the same thing. The reader can also be a bit heavy handed with accents, such as Uncle Mose's catchphrase, where it sounds as if he is growling.

That's Not a Briefcase!

Wonderful voices! Always a grand re-listen!! As well as the other shoe books! (Truth be told, this one is certainly my favorite!)

Relaxing Narrative!

We listened to Ballet Shoes a couple years ago and LOVED it. This one is just as good! We have listened to both many times and still throughly enjoy them! The plot is interesting, the characters very entertaining and likeable, and the overall effect is charming. And Elizabeth Sastre is a very talented reader! We would strongly recommend this book to anyone.

We LOVE this book!

Would you consider the audio edition of Theater Shoes to be better than the print version?

It's hard for me to choose. The audio version brings it to life, for sure. But I also have the book and it's enjoyable to curl up with on a rainy day.

What did you like best about this story?

Just the whole theme. The performing arts school, the children dealing with a very new side of their family. There was so much to love.

Have you listened to any of Elizabeth Sastre’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, all the audiobooks in the Shoes series and I absolutely love her voice in all of them. This one's the same, full of emotion and life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! And I've done so many times, just like with the other books in the series.

Any additional comments?

I just love it. Don't hesitate, get it. A nice story to listen to whether on a road trip, taking a relaxing break, or just want a short story to read. I only wish there were more!

Great book, great performance!
