He told me he loved me, then abandoned me.

My sister was his first choice. Too bad for him, I refused to be his second.

Dante Leone was bad news with a gorgeous exterior and a dangerous mind. Emotionally unavailable and slightly unhinged, he was a heartbreak waiting to happen. Again.

I ran. He gave chase and my fate was sealed.

Roaming the world, I searched for a vital part of me. There'd be no new beginning until I found my answers. My taste of freedom was sweet, yet lonely. And oh, so fleeting.

I should have known he would catch up to me. After all, he thrived on the chase. I'd learned that the hard way.

But guess what?

I was no longer the woman he seduced all those years ago. I no longer believed the pretty lies that passed his lips nor the false promises in his deceitful eyes.

My name is Phoenix Romero, and I'd make the rules this time around.

Like my namesake, I had risen from the ashes and this time, I would be the one to make him burn.

Eva Winners blows me away with another amazing novel set in her equally amazing “Thorns of Omertà” series. This fourth book of the series is Dante Leone and Phoenix Romero’s story, an enemies-to-lovers mafia romance with twists and turns that keep you thinking and on your toes. The story grabbed my attention right from the start and held it captive the entire time. Wow, Eva Winners put these two through the wringer and made them work for their happily ever after, and I was rooting for them the entire time. The two were young lovers, but with so many things going against them, they never stood a chance. Dante broke Phoenix’s heart, and she avoided seeing him for years, but when the two were in the same place, it was unavoidable and Dante felt a connection to her like no other, but Phoenix only felt hate. But there is a thin line between love and hate and Dante was not giving up on her and it became like a cat-and-mouse game until he finally catches up to her. Phoenix was on her own mission to get back something that never should have been taken from her. I loved how everything played out in this book, the complexity of the characters and all the layers to the story, which has the perfect balance of drama, angst, mystery, thrilling and suspenseful moments and steamy romance. The writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. It was great to see some familiar faces from earlier series, including Sasha and Branka. Eva Winners, thank you for another exceptional story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Connor Crais and Felicity Munroe did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life, and they understood who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and believable. Monroe nailed it as Phoenix, grasping every aspect of her personality, from her vulnerabilities and sorrow to her fierceness and determination and all in between. Crais was just as amazing in his role as Dante, showcasing all aspects of his personality as well, including his passiveness and alpha-tude. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two are entertaining storytellers and their performance elevated this already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Exceptional Story & Listen🎧 Gripping & Emotional!

This is one of my favorite books. I have come back to it three times now, however, this is the first time listening to the original audio and right when I think I couldn't love it anymore. Where do I start the story, the characters, the hero(swoon). You will get pulled into this story and you feel every part of it and that is truly the best when a story can make you feel so much and then still think about it after.
The narrators hands down incredible. Connor Crais and Felicity Munroe just amazing. The love, the longing the pain Connor gave to Dante's voice memorable I can not forget it and will probably listen again soon because of it. I don't believe I've had the honor of the female narrator before but she is going on my list to look out for now because she literally gave Phoenix a voice with her having lost her hearing she uses ASL to communicate but the sass, attitude and strength was given to her and felt in this audio. Oh my if you haven't listened yet do it please if you have read the book please listen to this audio. Lastly, Dandelion by Ruth B will forever be the go to song for this story for me. I listen on repeat whenever I finish it. Ok that all.
