The isolated, sleepy little village of Timber Falls—built on the bend of a swift mountain river—swells during the summer months as tourists flock to town to run the river, lured there by the Class IV and Class V rapids.

A gruesome murder of a college student—a river rat—brings the FBI to town.

Haley Martin used to be one of those river rats during her college years. Now she owns the Timber Falls Bar and Grill, drawn back to the picturesque village seven years ago after the tragic death of her wife.

Lynn Carter, a disgraced LAPD detective, was offered an out—a position on a team of unorthodox FBI agents. After a month of training, she was sent out on her own without a team or a partner. Her commander, nothing more than a mysterious voice on the phone, dished out assignments.

When he sent her to Timber Falls—a town by only the stretch of the imagination—she had no idea she would find her peace there. No idea she might find love.

But a serial killer preying on the tourists that the town relies on for survival takes precedence as clues lead her to an unlikely suspect.

Carter and Hayley share a heartfelt romance about being lost, barely living then feeling alive and grounded again or perhaps for the first time.

I have listened to Timber Falls twice and will again. I love the characters, the story line ( gruesome murders and all) and damn who doesn't enjoy Abby Craden voice. Her ability to change her voice for each character is amazing.
Gerri Hill is one of my favorite authors to read or listen as an audible.
Timber Falls sounds like a town I would love to visit. Kayak the river, hike the trails and then visit Haley's Timber Falls Bar and Grill.

Good book. Pretty muclose to the Ross and Sullivan mystery. Seems like all of the characters in her books have really screwed up childhoods.. I mean, the FBI agent comes into your town. You fall in love, and then she stays.. The story itself was nice. I still liked the Ross and Sullivan and Tori and Sam stories the best.

spin off from Ross and Sulivan mystery

It always seems to be a long time between Gerri Hill books but they are always worth waiting for. When I first discovered her books I had over two years worth of reading, but now that I have read them all, it seems all I do is wait for the next. This one is another great adventure with a little bit of the past added in. And yes, there is romance. Abby was wonderful as always.

Worth the wait

I liked the characters, but there was not a whole lot of character development. Mostly just two people dumping information about their pasts and somehow falling in love because of that. The “mystery” part of the book was okay as well, but for people out their that are avid mystery readers, this one will likely not fulfill you. Abby Craden is so good, you can’t help enjoy listening to her voice, and this story created a pleasant backdrop to do that.

Nice Easy Story
