I have listened to the other books in this series and enjoyed this one every bit as much as the others. It has a great story line, strong characters, and a good balance between romance and sensuality. It is also well narrated; Simon Prebble brings additional depth to the characters and enhances the overall listening experience.

I really liked this book. It kept my interest and I couldn't wait to get back in my car so I could listen some more.

I was excited to see Dare return from the dead since book 6. Now we learn the answers to all the outstanding questions since the first book. AND Dare gets a love interest. Though the book begins with a rather outrageous moment, the pace slows considerably. The love story plods along sweetly but tediously. I owe much of that to the FMC being quite juvenile. For the 1st time in the series I saw the FMC as a chit fresh out of the classroom. WHOA was she immature! The MMC also started out as a poor sad sack with a heavy drug addiction. However, halfway through the storyline picks up and takes on a bit of a mystery and intrigue. The demons Dare faces become very real and it changes both MCs.
I won't say it is the best of the series but it evolves into one of my favorites as ties all the previous open threads together and closes them. The love story matures a bit too which was nice to see.
The narration, as always, is fantastic.

Tedious at first but 2nd half things begin to engage

I confess to being somewhat puzzled by why Jo Beverley's books are not more highly rated on Audible. Her writing is of such consistently high quality! But her focus in this book is definitely on character development, rather than on plot or situational excitement. That could feel a bit lacking in momentum to readers who are used to more plot-driven romance novels. This book is a thoughtful exploration of two people's growing in commitment to one another. It's true that Mara seems somewhat shallow toward the beginning, but she is very young... and I think that the point of her story is her growth from romantic fancies to understanding what "for better or worse" really means. And to her credit, she does not shrink from this growth, but embraces each new relationship challenge with determination. in this she is a worthy partner for Dare, who has his own huge challenge to face. I thought this book showed a lot of Jo's maturity as a writer-- she shows a fight that is primarily mental and spiritual, but undertaken with love and bravery... rather than the fight against a physical danger which is the climax of many books. Writing about such an internal battle effectively, takes depth as an author and as a human being!
Finally, bringing together all the Rogues felt like a satisfying conclusion to all their stories. I've so enjoyed these books, and hope they will be discovered by other readers and listeners that enjoy thoughtful, nuanced stories with a greater-than-average depth of characterization and realism of personality.

Satisfying story

I liked a lot about the book but there were parts that frustrated me or made me lose interest. I thought she was annoying at times and hoped for love, not an instant love.

Frustrating at times
