In this delightful, sensual romp by bestselling author Eloisa James, Miss Olive Tyron falls in love with a major—who promptly walks away when he realizes who she is.

Livie never worried much about the world’s opinion of her—until the world despised her.

One minute she is happily dancing through her first Season, and the next her family is plunged into scandal and exiled from society.

Stealing into a masquerade ball, she meets the handsome, honorable Major FitzRoy, son of an earl. Yet if she removes her mask and tells Joshua her name, the scandal might engulf him as well.

Could he possibly love her enough to give up his career—and his honor?

this was it great escape for a cloudy weekend. Not too much drama, not too much sex, and no foul language. Just a nice love story. Sometimes it’s great just to read a predictable story that has a happy ending.

what a sweet story

Livi and the Major are both likable. Although, when Joshua misunderstands her early on, I felt like his reaction was overblown and harsh, and it was difficult for me to get back on board for their love story. There wasn’t enough reason for me outside of infatuation why Livi would still want him after what he said, especially considered the emotional abuse she received from her father.
Lord Devon is likable as always. I liked Daisy until the scene in the Tower. In that scene she shows herself to be a silly idiot, not thinking about the feelings of her cousin, more concerned with proving a point (and a ridiculous one at that). But she came around in the end. (I’m hoping her match is with Fredrick, but I fear it’s Devon)

Of course the reading was done well, she’s my favorite reader. The story was sweet and intriguing. It had all the great things in 1 book… a mean girl Regina, a couple masquerade balls, an evil father figure, a mystery to unravel, a sweet aunt and cousin Daisy, and an amazing handsome confident beau Joshua and I liked his drunk brother Freddy as well. Olive was the perfect main character!!!! Very well done.

Fun sweet romance
