Sierra

Seven years have passed since I fell for Boone West. The brooding bad boy. We were friends, even when I secretly wanted more, but I settled for what he offered. After he left Wyoming - and me - I grew up. Moved on. Or so I believed, until he blew back into my life with the scorching force of an Arizona desert wind.

I'm not that innocent 16-year-old girl anymore; I'm a businesswoman who swore never to settle again. But this older, wiser, hotter version of Boone unsettles me. How am I supposed to resist Boone's megawatt smile and his built-army-strong body?

Boone

Joining the army? Best decision I ever made. Even though it meant I had to leave her behind. Sierra McKay, the wide-eyed beauty who saw more in me than I saw in myself. I didn't dare offer her anything more than friendship, because one kiss, one touch, and I wouldn't have had the guts to go.

I've worked hard to become the man I am. I have a career. A purpose. After a chance encounter with the one woman I never forgot, I'm not leaving anything else to chance. Now I'm ready to show her that the passion we couldn't act on before burns hotter than ever between us.

Something about this just bored the heck out of me. I found myself not paying attention at times. I think that this story was very sweet and it started off funny but after a while, the story dragged on. The love scenes were hot and the characters were loveable but the story could have been told in half the time.

The narrators were okay. I probably won't seek out any of their other work.

Not impressed

Having listened to the full Rough Riders series, I was used to the story being told from the female's Point of View (except Chasin' Eight).

So 2 narrators took getting used to, but afterwards... it was pure Lorelei James!!

I'm glad the original series has moved on to the next generations. I have an new McKay/West series to look forward too.

After a long, long wait we get story of Boone West and Sierra McKay. The two met in high school in Wyoming. Knowing that he had nothing to offer, Boone left a broken hearted Sierra to join the Army.
Seven years have passed when their paths cross again. Both are now in successful careers and are free to explore feelings that they couldn't before. Hot, sweet, and more than a few tears.
This story is a spin-off of the Roughrider series, It was fun to see the children from those stories all grown up now. Their stories will follow as the Legacy Series continues.
A note about the narrator--she did the voice of a young woman NOT raised in Wyoming perfectly;))

One of the few books I stopped listening to halfway through. The the male narrator spoke in a slow and monotonous voice. I couldn’t take any more of it.

Too long and boring

I was really excited to finally get to hear Sierra's story but it was long winded and at times I wondered about the direction. For example, the parts about Boone meeting his father & Sierra's mothers bridal shower/wedding seemed more fluff than any real contribution.
Still unsure about the narrators...they are good but not great. I can't understand why if you hire 2 narrators that you have the the man trying to speak women's voices & vice versa. It just comes out sounding lame. Like many of Ms.James books the chapters switch between the 2 main characters but IMO Sierra should always sound like Sierra, not like Sierra in one chapter and a man in falsetto in the next chapter.

Not up to par with previous books in the series
