Sen emerged triumphant, but victory is a doubled-edged sword…

Sen defeated an elder of the Soaring Skies Sect and saved the mortals in the Silver Crane. What should have been a moment to bask in success came crashing down around him when he inadvertently exposed a demonic cultivator cabal. Realizing that a moving target is harder to strike, Sen flees into the wilds with Lifen and Lo Meifeng in tow.

There, he’ll learn that not all enemies want to take your life and not every threat can be met with the edge of a blade. Sen must delve deeper inside himself and push his cultivation harder than ever before or risk losing something more precious than his life… He’ll lose his soul.

Volume 3 by author Eric Dontigney contained the same action, humor, and character interactions that make this series as interesting as any. The character of Sen is even more compelling. Which is probably why I couldn’t put the story down. Wanted to hear more. See what happened. And how it would all “end.” And volume 3 delivered that and more. The action. The characters. The situation Lifen and Lo Meifeng found themselves because of Sen. All interesting storytelling. Get on. Cause I’m about to start on volume 4 now. DRmz 2-28-26

First of all, let me say that I own all four of these books in the series and of course, first of all the narrator is excellent. The second reason I give this book 5 stars is the MC, the storyline, and the events that happened during the book. This is, of course the story about an unexpected cultivator, is coming of age and learning things are not always what he expects them to be. the story is full of warmth, laughter, some action and is basically enjoyable. you can’t help but like the MC and his traveling companions in this story. Most enjoyable will continue to add these books to my collection, it is well worth the read.

Great MC, good coming-of-age story, excellent world building and side characters.

Exciting adventures, inventive plot & world - wilderness to large city along with some sea born snarls. The hero is young, semi-goodhearted and magically gifted. It has mostly clean language & respectful relations with women & closed door escapades.

Dispite the trials & difficult adventures - there is not the grim, unhappy tone so often underlying this genre. Instead it's more rolicking & sort of playful.

I love the narrator's voices & tone. It's not hard to tell who's speaking.

Wonderful!

I really am enjoying this story quite a bit. I thought about sharing some things about the story that I liked but realized as I thought about it it would have been an outline and considering how much time is going to pass between this book and the sequel being released I don't want to risk spoiling it for anybody. book number four is supposed to be out in mid November. I will say that I'm happy our main character got a reunion with his teachers in this book. I am very interested in what happens next in the story. if there's anything that I would single out as a criticism it would be the add-on of bloopers. to me blooper is an unintended Act, an error, they just so happens to be amusing. anything other than that labeled as a blooper it's just borish to me. as for the narration I tend to rank them along a spectrum with Alexis mechanical voice at the bottom and I truly award-winning performance complete with sound effects at the top. I would place this narrators work at just above average. it is a performance but certainly not the best I've ever heard.

I recommend the series
