Seeking balance. Loved ones at risk. No more Mr. Nice Guy.

Gus is doing his best to deal with Mengele’s sabotage. If that was all that was required of him, he would be able to sleep peacefully at night. But trying to lead his new team, while saving the people that matter to them, is testing even his incredible abilities.

The threat to his crew grows stronger as he wrestles against unrelenting, impossible odds. In order to meet them head-on, Gus needs to temper his growing powers…or they will consume him.

As he balances on the tipping point of a new future for mankind, the super can only hope the weight of the world doesn’t crush him.

Finished the omnibus and almost didn't buy this one. This book has not completely redeemed the series, but the writer is getting better.
I prefer more action in a super hero book and the fights in book 4 are better than book 2 and 3. Book 1 in a series is always a little tedious getting the story going and spending time on character development. Also when just getting super powers MC isn't going to become fighting God right away.
The repetitive internal moral quandaries and incessant negative self talk has been reduced in book 4. This series has more content about social inequality and the mental health crisis our world is facing than fight scenes. Book 4 has touched on these things still, but hasn't beaten the topic to death like in the previous books.
I hope the writer keeps making the series better in the future books in the series. Less talking about feelings and how hard life is and more action!

Getting better.

The author's character development was top notch. It was so good that I felt uncomfortable when the MC was making mistakes because the writing made it resonate. The interactions between characters was excellent.

There was a part of this novel that felt like a transition to bigger things. I am really interested in the future of the cultivation part of the novel. I will definitely purchase the next one.

Travis Baldree did a brilliant job with the narration once again!

Top notch writing!
