This one was an example of how young ladies were treated in high society. Some parents pushed them to marry men of high rank whether the men were of good character or not. The narrator did a good job of making it interesting and she had an English accent.

This lovely clean historical romance was a little bit of sunshine in my day! I loved the of emotional tension that carried the story forward without too much stress, and the slow growth of love that bloomed throughout the book! The narrator did a very nice job, and I could differentiate between the voices.

Lovely

A Charming Victorian Romance of Heart, Hope, and Faith

I absolutely loved Violets for Veronica by Janice Cole Hopkins. This delightful Victorian romance weaves together one scandal, one social season, one shy baron, and a heart determined to follow its own path while also offering gentle, meaningful touches of faith.

After her sister’s scandalous elopement with a dockworker threatens the family’s reputation, Veronica Smith is pressured into having a season to secure a respectable match. Rather than face the intense scrutiny of London society, she persuades her parents to send her to Bath, where she hopes to restore her family’s standing by marrying a man of rank and refinement. Armed with charm, grace, and a carefully laid plan, Veronica steps into the glittering assemblies of Bath only to find her resolve tested.

Baron Andrew Wesley, quiet, witty, honorable, and holding the lowest title in the aristocracy, is everything Veronica believes she should avoid. Yet his steady strength, subtle humor, and sincerity make him impossible to forget. As their paths continue to cross, Veronica must decide whether to cling to her carefully crafted plan or trust where her heart and her faith are leading her.

The story is tender, engaging, and beautifully written, with characters that are easy to love and a setting that comes alive. The faith elements are woven in with a light touch, offering moments of reflection, guidance, and hope that enhance the emotional depth of the story without overshadowing the romance.

I loved this well written story! I also enjoyed the narrator with the different voices. I loved the characters and how they showed their true self. Veronica was the sweetest lady and I loved her personality. After her sister caused a scandal she was willing to marry up with someone she didn’t actually love to help her family. Will she ever get over the thought of marrying the highest ranking man or will she go with her heart? Veronica is so torn about what to do. A wonderful story that I loved!

How far will you go to help out your family's reputation? That is what Veronica has to decide. After a scandal, she is set to come out and find herself a husband. With the help of her aunt, she has several suitors, each of a stature sure to rise her family back up. But of course, the one she truly pines for is not the highest of them. Will she decide to follow her heart of do what is expected of her? I loved this story. Pulling right back into the historical Victorian era, it is so interesting the politics that keep the family happy. Andrew and Veronica had that magic from the first interaction. And the violets just proved how he was taken. The other characters each had their own attractive characteristics, and I loved how Veronica's aunt tried her best to guide her heart. This is a fabulous story.

Salem Arbuckle is a talented narrator and she brought this story alive. Each character had it's own voice, from the confident arrogance to the insecure shyness. Easily switching between personalities, she created an easy flow, a bit of humor between the men and a chemistry easily felt. Loved her and the performance.

Fun, romantic Valentine listen!
