Embark on a Space-Fantasy LitRPG odyssey woven through the vast shadow of the Cthulhu Mythos.
(Slow Burn · Slice of Life Adventure · Unique Power Systems · Progression Fantasy · GameLit)

Long ago, during the event known as the Great Breaking, the gods turned their gaze away from Earth U1P2B1. The System, once the conduit of divine energy, magic, and interdimensional travel, sealed the world from the greater universe. Cut off from the stars, abandoned by their celestial patrons, humanity changed.

Some retained their connection to the System. These Awakened gained abilities that reshaped the world: strength beyond physics, minds that bent reality, and bodies forged of myth. But many were not so fortunate. Scamps, those rejected by the System, were born with no power at all. Ordinary. Mortal. Defenseless.

They were left to survive in a world ruled by Awakened warlords, kaiju titans, mutated horrors, and legends that walked like gods.

Gideon is one of them. A scamp. One among millions who scrape out a life under forces too vast to comprehend. Yet where others bend or break, Gideon endures—day after day, step by unremarkable step. He has no blessing, no destiny, no prophecy.

Only a will to keep going.

But the universe is far larger than Earth U1P2B1.

Beyond its sealed dimensional shell lies the Void Verse: a sprawling realm of star-faring knights, cosmic horror entities, and ancient Old Ones who whisper from the cracks of reality. Their influence spreads. Their hunger endures. And the seal around Earth is thinning.

When fate, or something far more intentional, tears Gideon from his familiar world, he is thrust into a progression fantasy journey where the only law is the System itself. A universe where power must be earned, not granted.

Gideon has one choice:

Remain small, and be devoured.
Or rise, and force the universe to notice.

the ai narrator struggles with words that have different pronunciations. A real narrator would have done this story much better justice

good book, poor narration

the story was interesting. overall I enjoyed it. the worst thing was the narration. the AI narrator did an ok job just not great. same tone throughout the story, mispronounced words and sometimes clipped words. overall better than not having an audiobook but it'll take a lot for me to think AI is clise to a live narrator.

Decent story but AI narration takes away from enjoyment.

1) The book is narrated by AI. AI has come a long way, but it remains AI. If you listen to the book, don't rate it poorly for something you knew about at the onset. Having said that, I will say AI did a good job with only minor hiccups.

2) The story description was accurate. If you read it, knew the general concept, and listened anyway, don't rate it poorly for having met your expectations. The story involves young adults. They do give off an older, well mannered vibe.

Over all, I liked it. It was well written, decently narrated, and detail driven, all for the introductory price of $0.00.

Pleasantly Surprised

Why do so many authors feel that their main character needs to have a love interest. Why do so many authors have so many women be interested in the main character.

All of the excerpts from Lovecraft books were disorienting and confusing, and I still don’t understand what they have to do with the overall storyline of the book.

Storyline has a lot of potential but falls short due to all the girl drama and unnecessary Lovecraft excerpts.

It’s my fault. I normally skip any book that has the main character as a teenager and this time I didn’t skip it, but listen to it. They all have the same thing in common / weird teenage drama that takes away from the overall storyline. It’s disappointing and leaves me frustrated. I will not bother with book 2.

Story is great. The AI narrator is terrible though. I'm sure the software will improve with time, but currently it is off putting
