While most of the poems offer praise to nature and a person’s relative role in it, the title itself, Leaves of Grass, is a pun minimizing the value of the very paper that they were written on.

The very complex relationship between Emerson and Whitman was publicly displayed in open letters that they had scribed to one another. Emerson, enthusiastically welcoming Whitman to his great career, made a very public proclamation of awe-inspiring praise to the poet.

Work 3: O Captain! My Captain!
Written about the death of President Abraham Lincoln, this poem emphasizes the grief and sorrow felt by the American people in the throes of mourning upon his assassination.

Work 4: When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d
Written in the summer of 1865 during the country’s profound national mourning over the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, this poem was a pastoral elegy referencing the recently concluded Civil War. Whitman uses imagery and symbols to describe the president, his death, and the emotional experience.

A Treasure Trove for Whitman Lovers!

This audiobook is an excellent collection for anyone interested in Walt Whitman. Having "Leaves of Grass" alongside other significant works like his elegy for Lincoln and the included biography offers a comprehensive look at the poet's life and powerful writing. A truly valuable addition to any poetry lover's library.

Highly recommend

This edition brings together the depth and beauty of Whitman's work in a really thoughtful way. Leaves of Grass alone is worth it, but having other poems and a full biography included makes it feel complete. The language is powerful, emotional, and surprisingly relevant even today. Highly recommend for anyone interested in classic American poetry.

Nice collection

This is a very nice audiobook collection of Walt Whitman poetry. Narrator does a fantastic job! The biography as the last book is a nice addition also. Excellent for fans of WW or poetry!

Great introduction to poetry for me.

I’m new to poetry, and this audiobook was a wonderful introduction to Walt Whitman’s work. The narration was able to bring the poems to life. A great listen for anyone curious about poetry or creative writing.

Great Compilation if you're a Whitman Fan.

It was a great listening experience. As a poetry student, I was always taught that not only do the words of creative writing matter but how you deliver them conveys their meaning. The performance was pretty good for a casual listening experience. This collection is of great value. It is great for students or for anyone wanting to expand their academic knowledge or is just someone who appreciates free verse, poetry, creative writing, and the like.
